Well done to our TRAMPOLINISTS who competed in grades for the first time on saturday 21st Jan 2012. Jesse Mace, Vickie Hocking, Kaitlyn Grose and Fiona Palk all stuck their routines. Jesse Mace passed her grade G moving up now to grade F.
MK Gymnastics competed in the regional championships on the 24th and 25th of September at the Mount Batten Centre in Portsmouth.
The competition started off with the level 5 age 8 gymnasts in which MK had 2 girls competing. Ellie Botterill had an amazing competition, her beam routine being the highlight of the competition. She ended in gold medal position overall which makes her the regional champion and she also picked up gold medals for her beam, bars and floor routines. Gypsy Squires also competed in this age group finishing 2nd overall and 2nd on beam with an unlucky fall. This was a brilliant result for her as it was the 1st time she had won regional medals.
In the next category, level 5 age 9/10 years 5 girls from MK competed. Kayleigh Matthews, Bryony Matthews, Rebekah Heath, Nikolette Prajapat and Charlotte Hinkins. Kayleigh came out on top of the MK girls finishing 5th overall and winning a silver medal on beam. Charlotte Hinkins won a bronze medal on floor and came 9th overall. Rebekah Heath came 12th, Bryony 13th and Nikolette 23rd. All the girls were brilliant in what was a hard competition and the first regionals for most of the girls.
In the level 4 age 12/13 Georgia Thompson competed for MK and really was a class above the rest. She had a clean competition and ended up as the regional champion in her first ever regional competition. She also won the gold medal on beam and bars.
Eleanor and Charlotte Smithson were the last to compete for the club in the level 3 age 11/12 category. Eleanor picked up an injury on floor meaning that she could not finish her competition but came 8th on beam in tough competition. Charlotte did finish her all around competition with only 1 fall and ended up 12th out of 25. She came 5th on bars which is a brilliant result for her and the club.
It was a brilliant competition for the club bringing home 2 regional champions and 11 regional medals. Well done girls.

This was a very large competition with 58 gymnasts in the Grade 14 alone despite this Sophie Mardell managed 11th Place and Karis Haddaway was 19th the other gymnasts in this grade also did very well and should be very proud of themselves. Grade 13 saw 36 gymnasts again even though we did not bring the medals home the gymnasts really did very well and worked hard. It was a very hot day in the afternoon saw 2 gymnasts compete again the experience for them was good and they tried their best. | Two regional Elite Grade champions at MK Gymnastics |
| On Sunday 13th of March, six gymnasts from Milton Keynes gymnastics travelled to Portsmouth for the Southern Region Elite grades. In the Elite 5 category Ellie Boterill, Cosima Thorne and Gypsy Squires battled it out with 4 other clubs in their first ever regional competition. Ellie had a fabulous competition astonishing the audience and coaches especially on the beam, holding her nerve well. She gained an overall score of 59.15 putting her in first place and making her the level 5 regional champion.Gypsy Squires and Cosima Thorne also had a brilliant competition. Cosima vaulted with style being awarded a 12.0 which was her highest score and Gypsy Squires achieving the best floor score of all the level 5 gymnasts with a score of 12.1. |
 |
| Gypsy achieved and overall score of 55.2 placing her 4th and Cosima an overall score of 52.8 placing her 5th. |
| In the Elite 3 section Paris Johns, Eleanor Smithson and Charlotte Smithson really proved themselves as being elite all passing their grade with difficult routines.Paris was stunning having no falls on any apparatus. Her best score was on the vault where she flew through the air to gain 12.2. Her overall score was 56.5 winning her the gold medal and making her the southern region level 3 out of age champion.Eleanor performed out of her skin with an absolutely beautiful floor routine and a solid performance all round with no falls securing her an overall silver medal with the score of 54.4. |
| Charlotte was very unlucky not to medal missing out by just 0.4 from the bronze which would have made it a clean sweep for mk gymnastics. She performed really well with just a couple of unlucky falls to achieve an overall score of 51.1. This put her in 4th but still passing her elite grade by a very comfortable margin. Charlotte Atkinson and Helen Winder, the coaches of the girls commented that they are very proud of the girls and think this is a great new start for the club. |
| Paris, Eleanor and Charlotte also travelled to Austria the weekend of the 5th and performed their voluntary routines well in an extremely hard competition with the best children in Europe. The held their nerve in difficult circumstances and had hardly any falls. Paris came 11th, Charlotte came 12th and Eleanor came 13th. It was a great competition and the girls had great fun in Innsbruck going on a trip up the mountains the day after the competition (a fitting reward) Mk Gymnastics have had an amazing 2 weeks and we are all in anticipation as to what these elite girls will achieve next. |

| MILTON KEYNES GYMNASTICS ACHIEVES GYMMARK |
|
Congratulations to all our coaches and staff who have helped us towards achieving our GymMark award. This is an award in partnership with sport England and sports councils which recognizes clubs which provide quality experiences. The criteria to achieve this has been to ensure we are providing a safe, effective and child friendly environment and to constantly keep up to date all our records on qualification of coaches and their ratios, CRB checks for all helpers and coaches and processes to monitor safety.
It also means that all our staff are trained to the highest of standard within their field of expertise. Included within this is child protection, equity and ethics. We provide equal opportunities to all the community from pre school to adults and offer this to all levels of ability.
It has taken some time to achieve this due to the many coaches we have here and the need to get them qualified in the many different areas in order to comply with these regulations. Our thanks go out to all our staff and coaches who have sacrificed many a weekend to attend various courses!
