| Our Trip to Austria |
| On the 13th March, a squad of 7 gymnasts travelled to Austria to compete in the Attila Pinter Turnier competition. This is a competition that Milton Keynes Gymnastics Club has been invited to take part in many times and we have created a strong friendship with the host club over these years. The hospitality of the Austrians was terrific, as they took us all out for meals and allowed us to stay in their gym. |
| The squad consisted of Jade Warren, Stephanie Forward, Molly O’Dell, Amelia Chapman, Natalie Summers, Naho Tanaker and Emma Marks, and all of these gymnasts competed in this competition. |
| First up were the juniors (Molly, Amelia, Naho and Emma) and overall each of them had a good competition. Naho completed her beam routine successfully, with no falls and few wobbles, and following her beam she performed her floor beautifully completing all of her tumbles. After injuring herself in warm up, Molly still went for her tsukahara vault and completed it with ease, and afterwards landed her half turning backaway off bars. Amelia, after having a shaky start on beam, completed her floor routine and straight front somersault as well. The youngest of the squad, Emma, completed her half on half off vault which she was worried about and gracefully performed her floor. After that competition, the seniors had a lot to live up to. |
| Soon after, the senior competition began and competing were Natalie, Steph and Jade. Jade competed first on beam and only had a fault on her change leg split leap, but otherwise her routine was brilliantly executed. Then after, her bars were again perfect with her giant, giant full twisting back away finished just right. Next up was Natalie and after completing her flick on beam, which she had been struggling on, she was in a great mood for the other apparatus. After beam she completed her floor tumbles and her half twist backaway off bars. Finally was Steph, who had an amazing day competing some moves that she has never really done before and executing them almost perfectly. She competed a round off full twisting back somersault off beam and landed perfectly, and also completed a double twisting somersault on floor, with only a small stumble. |
Overall the trip was a huge success and the whole squad had a brilliant time, and also they competed to their full potential. Well done girls! |
|
| 'Our girls did extremly well in the competitions over the weekend with Stephanie Forward receiving bronze in the club grade one, and both Eleanor Smithson gaining silver and Charlotte Smithson in 4th place in grade 6.' |
| ' In the regional tumbling competition William Brasier won gold which means he will be going to the NDP finals on 17th and 18th May. Chloe Gibson won bronze, Emily Cullum won bronze, Ella Cusack won silver, Crispin Zuercher won bronze, Joel Barford won gold and Micheal Czyzynski won gold. |
| In the sports acro pairs we had Micheal Czyznski and Katherine Mercer on bronze, Joel Barford and Crispin Zuercher on gold, Rhiannon Owen and Siobhan Mahdoo on bronze so a big well done to everyone who competed!' |

| Southern Region Challenge Cup |
On the 11th November the Senior Artistic Girls Squad travelled to Basingstoke to take part in the Southern Region Challenge Cup. |
All of the girls competed at the same time in two different groups, junior and espoir (in age). All of the girls competed well. |
In the espoir group Jade, Steff, Molly and Amelia represented Milton Keynes and had a tremendous day and it was a good experience for them. Jade won bronze overall with 2 other medals as well, we were especially pleased for her on her bar routine as she managed to do her giants which she had been struggling with in the gym. Steff competed well on all pieces and gained a silver and a bronze medal. Molly also had a good day with 2 bronze medals, despite having a big fall on the beam and hurting her knee on the vault. Even though Amelia did not pick up any medals she competed well and the experience of such a high level competition can build confidence to go on to future competitions. |
In the Junior Group Natalie Summers represented Milton Keynes, she had a really good day, sticking most of her beam and tumbling well on the floor she managed to gain 5 silver medals. |
Great day girls well done we are proud of all of you!!!! |

| Three of our gymnast travelled down to Basingstoke on Sunday the 30th September to compete in the level 4 and 5 in age girls artistic . Poppy Gibbs,Olivia Hale and Lucia Martuccio. |
| This was a very big competition for the girls as they have only ever competed at county level. All three gymnast made us very proud . The standard was very high and gave the girls a great experience for the future. Poppy coming a very credible 4th on vault just missing out on the bronze medal and 5th on floor to put her in 14th place overall out of 37 gymnasts. Well done Pops. Lucia also having a very positive day going clean on all routines and again just missing out on a bronze medal on vault, with a very positive and credible 8th place overall and getting a place in the regional squad. Great achievement Lou. |
Our next gymnast Olivia Hale also performed very well. Olivia has been out of gymnastics for a number of months , we were very pleased to welcome her to our club just six weeks ago. Olivia is growing her confidence back , and did very well to enter in this competition , performing well on bars and vault but a little nervous on beam and floor. This was a great achievement Olivia ,getting rid of your demons and getting back out on the circuit. A very big well done to all of our gymnast ,you have made us all very proud. |

| Inter Counties Comp |
Milton Keynes Gymnastics Club competed a strong team of both Tumblers and Sports Acrobats, at last weekend’s British Prelims competition in Southampton. |
Fiodor Matyskin and Sophie Phillips performed a beautiful balance routine in the morning and a spectacular dynamic routine in the afternoon to pick up the gold medal in the mixed pairs Grade 3 category. |
| Abigail Greenwood powered down the tumble track to pick up the gold medal after executing 3 fantastic tumbles, including front somersaults, flicks and tuck back somersaults in the National 2 12 – 14 age group. Her success was followed by Joel Barford who won the National 1 Under 12 category. |
In Grade 2 women’s pairs, Lauren Beaumont with Alix Inch and Rhiannon Owen with Jenny Kitchen picked up silver and bronze medals respectively. Both pairs competed well with special mention to Alix who made it through her routine despite damaging the ligaments in her knee during the warm-up round. |
Our men’s group of Nikki Meglinski, Jack Owen, Sam Ainscow and Luke Ainscow also won the gold medal, despite being relatively new to the category. |
The whole team had a great competition and the support from parents and friends who made the 250 mile round trip, made all the difference to the competitors. |
