Teams consist of between 6 and 12 gymnasts and they compete on 3“pieces” - a floor routine, tumbling and trampette.

Trampette:  3 runs take place, and in each run 6 members of the team must complete oves over the trampette.  

Of these 3 runs at least 1 must be a vaulting run.

Tumbling:  3 runs take place, and in each run 6 members of the team must complete tumbles consisting of at least 3 moves joined together.  Of these 3 runs there must be at least 1 forward run.

Floor:  Routines must contain ALL members of the team, (which can contain between 6 to 12 gymnasts).  It should be between 2 1/2 and 3 minutes long, and contain compulsory elements of 2 spins, 2 jumps, 2 balances and 2 body waves as well as at least 6 different shapes created in the choreography.

Team Gym is headed up by Emily Guinness who is a Team Gym Club Coach, and is assisted by Gary Crawford and Jenny Clarke.

If you would like to take up Team Gym you will need to come in for a trial session with Emily to see if you are suitable, and also to see if you enjoy it!  Either give us a call, or come to reception to book a suitable time.

It is a great achievement to be selected for our squad and gymnasts are expected to follow the rules of the gym and the instructions of the coaches.  Squad train from two to five times a week and take responsibility for their progress and commitment.  All squad gymnasts are expected to compete where appropriate and wear squad leotards and tracksuits – with pride!
